This listing is for a quality aftermarket final stage resistor (FSR) for the heater fan blower on your BMW.

This resistor is commonly known as the 'Hedgehog' due to its appearance!

This resistor was fitted to various models of BMW including E36, E39, E46, X5 etc.

This is the resistor that gives you the various fan speeds on the heating and air conditioning.

These resistors commonly fail and can produce several results:

1) A flat battery overnight or when the car is not used for a few days

2) Strange fan speeds (can oscillate)

3) Fan only works on full speed

The early 2002 to 2004 cars had a version of this part that gave a lot of problems and were replaced with this revised version.

This is not a genuine BMW  part, but can be used as an alternative to BMW part no 6931680 or Valeo part numbers 509505 / 532953339V / 985501V.

Fitting Details

You can change this resistor yourself with basic tools.

There are various instruction guides and videos available online to assist you.

Please note: Although it is a fairly straight forward procedure, access to the resistor in right hand drive cars can be challenging because of the steering column!
